Time

Ever tried to push the boundaries on your allotted fishing time. That one last cast (or ten) that just might entice the bite and send your reel screaming; Those last 5 minutes hoping that your bait will be picked up.

Flirting on the edge of duties at home and fishing insanity. I am sure we have all dropped the chirp, “well honey if you ever ask me to choose between you and fishing, I sure am gonna miss you!” Even if said with tongue in cheek, does the old saying “many a true word is spoken in jest” not perhaps ring all to clear?

Why do we do it, we know we are playing with fire. Is it really worth it?

So many times I have found myself on the wrong end of a flat hand wielded by a scolding mother or as I grew older, upset girlfriends giving me the cold shoulder. We always repented with those sad puppy eyes, explaining that the big one narrowly evaded you and promising that next time you will be back on time. You are sincere, but fishing has a strange effect on a person, it allows you to forget about the last scolding, leads you to believe that perhaps this time you will get that big one and they might just maybe understand…
